The Trinity

There are few topics that have more confusion surrounding it than
the doctrine of the Trinity.
The word “Trinity” does not appear in the King James Bible at all.
So how can we support the idea that the God head is three, yet one.
Muslims are Monotheist or “one god.” They say “There is but one
god, who is Allah, and his prophet is Mohammed.” Many religions and
cults here in America claim there is only one person in the God head.
So who is right? Let’s take a look.
Let’s begin in Genesis 1:26: And God said, Let us make man in our
image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and
over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Notice it says “in our
image.” The word “our” is a plural word.
John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. It says the Word was with God and that He was
God. If you go down just a few verses, you will find out who “the
Word” is referring to. John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of
the Father,) full of grace and truth. “The Word” is none other than Jesus
Christ. He was with God in the beginning and He was also God.
Genesis 1:2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was]
upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters. Here we see the third part of the trinity in the form of the
Spirit of God. So God created all things with Jesus present and the
Spirit was also there.
Matthew 28:19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: This is the
way that Jesus, Himself, told us to baptize people. He mentioned all
three persons of the Godhead. This does away with the idea of
baptizing in the name of Jesus only. This was a commandment not a
suggestion.
John 17:1,3-5: 1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven,
and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may
glorify thee: 3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true
God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4I have glorified thee on the earth:
I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5And now, O Father,
glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before
the world was. If there was only one person, why would Jesus be
praying, and to whom would He pray to? But it clearly states that He
looked to heaven and talked to His Father. Verse three denotes that
there is one God and His Son. And down in verse 5, He asks God to
restore unto Him the glory He had in the beginning. Either there is
more than one in the Godhead, or Jesus had a split personality and a
problem with talking to Himself about Himself when He was by
Himself.
John 15:26: But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you
from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father,
he shall testify of me. Here He speaks of Himself, the Father, and the
Spirit, as separate persons in the same sentence. Remember this is
Jesus talking, so we should take His words over any so-called scholar
who would tell you otherwise.
There are more scriptures that we could cite to prove to you that
the doctrine of the Trinity is true, but that still would leave one
puzzled about how it could be true and how it works. Well you will
have to ask someone smarter than me to make it plain, but I would like
to try to put it in simple terms.
Take an egg, break it open, and separate the shell, the yolk, and the
white. The shell is not the yolk nor the white, but it is still 100% egg.
The white is not the shell nor the yolk, but it is still 100% egg. The
yolk is not the white nor the shell, but it, too, is 100% egg. While
together, they make up an egg. And separately, they were not the
total body of the egg, but they were in no way any less an egg.
It is much greater than the human mind can comprehend, how it
works, but I know that if Jesus said so much about it, then I can accept
it as truth and find out the rest when I reach heaven and spend eternity
with all three of them.
